At the 2025 BC OPEN, Sky won 2nd place in the U1600 section with a prize of $250. Joanne was awarded the Best Female Player in the Premier section with a prize of $200. Congratulations!
At the February 17th U.S. Presidential Scholastic Chess Tournament, Cody and Brody won 2nd and 3rd place in their grade section, while Casper secured 4th place. Congratulations!
At the FVC Classic 1 held on January 25-26, Coach Jason achieved a perfect score and won first place in the Open section. Jordan secured first place in the U1600 section, while Andy claimed third place in the U1100 section. Congratulations!
At the Greater Vancouver Chess Tournament in December, Rafael won third place in the U1300 section, Jimmy was awarded the Best U8 Boy in the same section, and Joanne claimed the Best U12 Girl title in the U1800 section. 👍

At the St. Anne Celtic Challenge Fall 2024 Chess Tournament in the United States, RCC secured second place in the team competition. Jasper won the G1-3 U700 championship, while Daniel earned the runner-up position in the G4-8 U900 section. Most of the other students also placed in the top ten of their respective sections. Joanne won the Best Girl in the Championship Section at the 2024 BC Provincial Youth Chess Championship, and also placed second in the U1500 Section , receiving the CJCC $300 travel subsidy. Martina won Best Girl in the Reserve section, Andy placed fifth in the Booster Section, and Morgan took fourth place in the Booster U500 Section.
At the November 10, 2024, Seattle Challengers Cup Scholastic Chess Tournament, Martina won three major awards and took first place in the U1000 section, while her older brother Jordan earned second place in the same section. In the Veterans Day Scholastic Tournament on November 11, Jordan achieved an impressive second place in the G3-6 Open section, and Martina won first place in the G3-6 U800 section.
In the RCC Elite One-Day Classic Chess Tournament held on November 2, the following RCC members received awards: In the Open section, RCC coach Jason secured second place, and Joanne was recognized as Best Girl; in the U1300 section, May achieved second place, while Martina was awarded Best Girl; in the U800 section, Yucheng claimed first place, Avery took second, and Anthony finished third; in the U500 section, Luffy Xing secured second place. Congratulations to all award recipients!

In the K-12 Open section of the 19th Susan Polgar Foundation National Open for Girls & Boys, Aiden Yin earned a trophy with 4 points , and Andrew Yin received a trophy with 3.5 points .
In the 2024 Jack Taylor Memorial, Martina, who has been studying chess at RCC for just one year, won the Best Female Player award and tied for first place in the U900 category, earning a total prize of $150.
In the 2024 BC Women's Open, Joanne finished fourth and first in the U1500 category.
In the 2024 Western Open, coach Jason tied for first place in the top group, while coach Joe secured third place.
In the preliminary round of the 2024 BC Chess Challenge, Andrew and Jasper won the G4 and G5 championships, respectively, Zitian finished second in G6, and Derek and May took third place in G2 and G9, respectively.
In the RCC Elite Tournament on September 22, Andy won first place in the U800 category, Ethan placed third in the same group, May secured second in U1300, Sky finished third in U1300, Joanne was recognized as the best girl in the Open category, Eden took second in U500, and Rayna was awarded the best girl in U500.

Joanne, a member of the RCC team, represented the Canadian national team and performed exceptionally well in the first Chess World Cup U12. She challenged herself and achieved results beyond her pre-tournament expectations. Keep it up!
In the second Inter-school Chess Tournament held on June 1-2, RCC team members Aiden Yin and Aiden Zhu secured six wins each in the G1-4 matches on the first day. They respectively clinched the first and second positions. Bowen from the K class and Mario from the G1 class also scored 4 points each.
In the two-day slow chess matches in G5-8, Jasper Zhang won 5 out of 6 games, securing second place with 5 points, while Jordan Szetu from G5 scored 4.5 points.
Congratulations to BC for winning second place in this year's Canadian Chess Challenge, and congratulations to RCC team members, first-grader Jimmy and fourth-grader Aiden, who not only brought honor to BC but also respectively achieved second place individually.

Congratulations to BC on their victory in the 2024 friendship match against WA! RCC team members Alvin, Jimmy, Sky, Aiden Zhu, Andrew, and Aiden Yin all performed exceptionally well. Young Alvin even managed to defeat an opponent with a rating twice as high as his own. Everyone showed outstanding performance
RCC team member Ryan clinched the first place in the international chess competition held in Madrid, Spain.
At the Vancouver Chess Festival held on April 13th and 14th, RCC competition class members Joanne and Sky defeated opponents rated 300 and 500 points higher than themselves, respectively. their performance ratings exceeded their own ratings by over 300 points!
In the BC Chess Challenge 2024, Bowen from Class K and Aiden from 4th grade achieved first place in the province, becoming teammates for the provincial team to compete in the Eastern region in May! Jimmy from 1st grade earned second place, Sky from 3rd grade earned third place, and Andrew from 4th grade also earned third place.

In the 2024 BC OPEN, RCC Senior Class coach Bindi Chen won first place in the Premier group, earning a prize of $1200. Senior class member Billy Wu secured joint second place in the U1400 category, winning $185. Intermediate to Senior class member May Wangluo claimed the title of U1400 TOP FEMALE, with a prize of $100.
Congratulations! Joanne has been selected for the Canadian U12 Girl's team to compete in the World Cup taking place in Georgia at the end of June.
Andrew Yin, a fourth-grade member of the RCC with a CFC peak rating of 1580, has received an official invitation from the CFC and has been included in the list of candidates to represent Canada at the inaugural Youth International Chess World Cup. Congratulations to Andrew!
In the Junior Winter Rapid held on February 3rd, Joanne Wangluo and Ava Chen secured the first and second positions in the U1000 category, respectively. Martina Szeto achieved the title of Top Girl, and Jasper Zhang was honored with the second position in the U1500 category.

In the BC Chess Challenge Qualifier 2 held on January 28th, Bowen Wang secured the first place in the K category, Derek Xu achieved the first place in the G3 category, Aiden Yin and Andrew Yin respectively secured the second and third places in the G4 category. Jasper Zhang earned the third place in the G5 category 🏆. Congratulations! 🏆
In the BC Junior Winter Rapid Championship (G7-9) concluded on December 10th, RCC team member May Wangluo secured the first position, clinching triple championships as the best 8th-grade player, best female player, and overall winner. She was awarded a prize of $60.
In the Vancouver Chess Festival #4 concluded on December 9th and 10th, RCC team member Daniel Deng achieved the third position and was awarded a prize of $125.

On November 19th, in the BC Junior Chess Rapid Tournament, Ava Chen and Sky Cui respectively won the titles of Best Girl and Best Boy in the GK-3 category. May Wangluo secured the title of Best Girl in the G7-9 category.
At the 2023 BC Junior Championship held on November 18-19, Joanne Wangluo was awarded Top Girl in the Reserve section, May Wangluo secured the Top Girl title in the U1000 category, Zitian Chen claimed the second position in the U500 section, and Derek Xu achieved second place in the Unrated section.
At the BC Chess Challenge Qualifier held on November 12th, Alvin Zhang clinched the second position in the K category. Joanne Wangluo and May Wangluo secured joint first place in the G6 and G8 competitions, respectively. They received the third and second-place trophies

Sky Cui tied for third place in the U1400 rating section at the Vancity Rapid Blitz Chess Tournament held on October 7th. Their CFC rapid chess rating saw a remarkable increase of 200 points, surpassing the 1200 mark, and they received a $50 prize from the organizers.
Refael Yen emerged victorious in the U1000 category at the Wing Gambit Chess Tournament held on October 15th, securing the first-place position and receiving a $100 prize.
May Wangluo and Aiden Lu clinched a shared championship in the U1000 category during the 2-day tournament at the Vancouver Chess Festival held on October 28-29, with each of them receiving a prize of $112.
