RCC is proud to celebrate our students' outstanding achievements at the Canadian Chess Challenge in Ottawa! Team BC placed 4th nationally, while our young players shone individually: G2 Jimmy won 2nd place (Grade 2), G5 Andrew took 3rd (Grade 5), G7 Joanne claimed 4th (Grade 7), and G1 Bowen secured 6th (Grade 1). Their dedication and skill inspire us all—congratulations to these rising stars!
Congratulations to RCC's Coach Jason for tying for 1st place in the top section of Keres Memorial 2025 this weekend, winning $1100 in prize money! Also celebrating Liz for clinching 2nd place in the U1100 section!
At the RCC Elite Rapid tournament held on May 11, RCC coach Jason claimed first place in the Open section, followed by Aiden in second and Joanne in third. In the U1600 section, May took first place, Cody second, and Andy third, with Kari earning the Best Female Player award for the section. The U800 section saw Siyang in first, Ryan in second, and Jacob in third, while Angela was recognized as the section's Best Female Player.
RCC's youngest member Casper delivered a dominant performance at the Seattle University Scholastic Chess Tournament, claiming 1st place in the K-3 U700 section against all older competitors with remarkably consistent play!
At the BC Provincial Championships, RCC team members G1 Bowen, G2 Jimmy, G5 Andrew, and G7 Joanne respectively represented their corresponding grade levels from British Columbia at the Canadian Chess Challenge held in Ottawa.
RCC member Joanne will represent British Columbia as its top female player at the 2025 Canadian Women's Closed Championship.
RCC member Joanne will represent Team Canada at the FIDE World School Chess Championship.

Players with CFC rating above 1200 : Coach Max, an International Master and active tournament player rated 2386 FIDE. In 2022, I earned my title with 3 straight IM norm performances and reached #7 on the Canadian national rankings. Peak classical FIDE rating is 2436, and my peak Lichess Bullet rating is 2915. I have 8 years of experience coaching players of all levels, including top finishers at the Chess Challenge and CYCC. Let’s improve together!

The games will follow a "winner stays" format, where the loser must give up their seat to allow others a chance to play. The new player can choose their desired opponent.
RCC provides all the chessboards, pieces, and clocks needed for the games. Participants are kindly asked to respect their opponents, take care of the equipment, and enjoy the game.
